Dental Assistant & Clinical Manager

Performs a variety of patient care, administrative tasks, and supervisory tasks under the direction of a licensed dentist. Patient care duties may include equipment preparation and sterilization, preparing patients for treatment, assisting the dentist during treatment, and providing patients with instructions for oral healthcare procedures. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding information for insurance purposes. Supervisory duties may include supervising the dental team (increasing efficiency & quality patient care), administers staff scheduling and productivity, establishing and implementing staff training, responsible for maintaining dental equipment & supplies, acts as liaison with vendors, responsible for clinic maintenance, implements policies/procedures as assigned by management, administers OSHA/HIPPA compliance requirements, cross trained in all clinic areas (ie: CBCT Scans), and delivering individual and team leadership.

Key responsibilities (Not limited to the duties stated below, additional duties as assigned)

Patient Care

  • Provide excellent customer service with greeting and seating dental patients. 

  • Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures

  • Ensure the room is cleaned and sterilized before/after each patient

  • Prepares the patient for treatment/procedure with x-rays, charts, instruments and materials needed for the procedure

  • Assist the dentist or dental hygienist during dental procedures, ensuring  patient comfort and safety

  • Operate dental X-ray equipment and 3D scans

  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment

  • Explain to patients’ proper oral hygiene and post-operative care instructions

  • Assist with maintaining the dental office's inventory of supplies, ordering as needed

Driving Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently transport equipment and supplies between different dental offices, which may include food or other perishable items (as needed)

  • Represent the company in a professional manner by maintaining a clean vehicle

Administrative Tasks

  • Updating patient records as needed

  • Handle phone calls and coordinate with patients for follow-up appointments

  • Record/write all treatment rendered to patients by the Dr., sends accurate reports, maintains patient records and files dental charts

  • Perform basic office tasks such as filing, data entry, and other administrative duties

Infection Control, Safety and Compliance

  • Adhere to strict infection control protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

  • Adhere to proper sterilization practices of all equipment and instruments

  • Maintains the dental office in a clean and orderly manner by adhering to Daily, Weekly, Bi-weekly and Monthly protocols

  • Follow safety guidelines and regulations to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff

  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect the privacy of health information and the security of electronic records

  • Understand emergency protocols

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education

Skills & Knowledge

Working Conditions

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or on-the-job training.

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities

  • Knowledge of dental terminology, record keeping, procedures and instruments

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office (Word, Excel, & Powerpoint)

  • Proficiency in dental software and office management systems

  • Ability to delegate tasks and prioritize accordingly

  • Ability to analyze, solve problem, and find effective solutions

  • Driving responsibilities requires travel to and working at various dental offices 

  • The work environment is fast-paced and involves close contact with patients

  • Extended the option to travel to the outer island by Cessna plane and working at various dental offices

  • The position requires long periods of standing, sitting, walking and bending

  • Occasionally lifting equipment or supplies up to 25 lbs.

  • Eyeglasses and surgical masks must be used as protection during treatment,     lead aprons and shields will be used as protection against radiation.

  • Requires working to specified routine and under supervision of the Dentist

  • Requires performing tasks with consideration to patients and willingness to work as part of a team, maintaining reliable work attendance, assisting co-workers in other areas as needed or required

  • This position requires flexible work days/hours based on Dental office closures,      emergency patients and scheduling.

  • This position may be extended the option to travel to Moloka’i to support the Dr. with patient care which includes all duties listed above.
