Meet the Team
Dr. Joseph Chu, DDS | Endodontist
Dr. Chu's visionary leadership led to him establishing Kauai Endodontics in 2010, after graduating from New York University Dental School and specializing at Lutheran Medical Center. He has served as President of the Honolulu County Dental Society and the Kauai County Dental Society, showcasing his expertise and commitment to the dental community.
Dr. Chu is dedicated to professional advancement, volunteering as an advisor for the University of Hawaii Pre-Dental Club and teaching at esteemed institutions. Currently, he contributes to the development and regulation of dental practices as a member of the Hawaii State Board of Dentistry.
Beyond our local community, Dr. Chu's impact extends through meaningful medical missions, providing vital dental care in the Philippines, Nepal, and Burma.
Dr. Anthony Marin, DDS | Endodontist
Dr. Marin is a board-certified endodontist, holding Diplomate status with the American Board of Endodontics, and brings a wealth of expertise in advanced endodontic care. Dr. Marin earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Loma Linda University, graduating cum laude, followed by specialized training in Endodontics at New York University College of Dentistry. His passion for patient care is reflected in his contributions to research, education, and leadership roles within the field.
With extensive experience in both civilian and military dentistry, including serving as Division Officer of Dental Specialties in Japan, Dr. Marin has demonstrated a commitment to excellence in endodontic treatment. Additionally, his dedication to public health shines through his involvement in outreach programs that provide vital dental care to underserved communities.
Dr. Marin’s expertise, credentials, years of experience and leadership are valuable assets to our clinic. He is here to serve, treat, learn, share, grow within our community and he is a wonderful addition to the care you receive here at Kauai Endodontics!.
Lynne Lum | Office Manager
Lynne has supported Dr Chu since day one. With 13 years of experience, she makes all patients feel at ease. She loves spending time with her husband and children. Lynne has a son named Tyruss, a daughter named Tyra, and a 2 year old granddaughter named Ariya. On her days off, she babysits and enjoys most of her free time with Ariya and her dog named Raisin.
Maile Welsh | Dental Assistant
Maile is a beaming presence at our practice. With 5 years of experience as a Dental Assistant, she radiates unwavering positivity in her role and her genuine compassion shines through with patients. When she's not assisting, you can find her dedicated to work out classes at the gym, enjoying lunch dates with her husband, dinner dates with friends, and traveling to different countries with her family. The best part is having her two Frenchton dogs to keep her extra busy!

Sydney Mae Matsuyama | Dental Assistant
Sydney recently moved from Arkansas to Kauaʻi with her husband, who is from the island. She brings many years of experience in customer and community service and has a genuine passion for helping others, which she now shares with our patients. In her free time, Sydney enjoys hiking, relaxing at the beach, and spending time with her husband and cat. She feels grateful to call Kauaʻi home and to be part of a team that cares for the community with aloha.

Jeachelle Jamille Beltran | Executive Assistant
JJ is Dr. Chu’s Executive Assistant and plays a key role in supporting the practice behind the scenes. She helps coordinate dental appointments, provides customer service, and manages back-office administrative tasks to keep things running smoothly. Outside of work, JJ enjoys watching movies and spending quality time with her family.
Bea Al-Ghalaff | Patient Care Coordinator
As a Patient Care Coordinator, Bea handles customer service and appointment setting with care and precision. She spends her free time reading novels, playing racket sports, and enjoying life with her kids.
